English Access Micro Scholarship Program
A 5-day summer school was held as part of the English Language Access Scholarship Access program. For three days, the students underwent intensive online training, and the last two days were dedicated to the final summer school on June 18-22. Lika Gumberidze, English Language Program Coordinator at the US Embassy, presented students with certificates signed by the US Ambassador and books , as well as US Embassy branded bags. The program is implemented by PH International and the US Embassy. The partner organization in Ozurgeti is Guria Youth Resource Center.
On the first day of summer school, students visited the Ozurgeti Public Library, where they learned about the American Book Corner, After that, a reading hour was organized. The first day went well.
The next day the students were on an excursion to Batumi, where they visited a corner of American literature housed in the Batumi Public Library. The final day of the Final Summer School ended with a student visit to the Cinema Theater.
The program is for 2 years and includes 4 semesters of education, in which 25 students from different schools of Ozurgeti Municipality participate.
The teachers of the program are Nadia Kardava and Ana Nozadze.
Due to the pandemic, the program was switched to online learning mode and justified. This year three program participants became the winners of the exchange program and soon they will travel to the United States
The program aims to make English language learning accessible to adults from socially vulnerable and economically disadvantaged families. In addition to teaching English to children, they also share American culture and customs and develop leadership qualities.
